Castellinuzza

The ancient village of Castellinuzza has historical origins that are less-known. It was an ancient castle surrounded by low walls which could have belonged to the Gherardini family at first and during the centuries it passed to the Cinuzzi family, who still today own part of the village.

Cinuzzi family

The Cinuzzi family’s history began in Siena around the thirteen century and still continues today in Rome. The emblem of the family is preserved in Siena in the room of the city council, because the Cinuzzi family descends from Marcantonio Cinuzzi who was a poet, a member of the Academy of Intronati and son of Mariano. Mariano was heir of a noble family registered to the “Monte dei gentiluomini”. Centuries and generations passed but the family indissolubly stayed in touch with Castellinuzza and the production of the Chianti Classico wine.

Chianti Classico and Lamole territory

In this ancient village located on the street that leads to Lamole, Chianti Classico has always been produced. It’s a territory of high hills characterized by high excursion of temperature between day and night and it preserves all the organoleptic aspects of Sangiovese grapes. The wines benefit of freshness, elegance and quality. Castellinuzza is a member of the Association of Lamole winemakers.
